Why Build?

The Build in Feel Change Build means many things. It starts as a creative energy where we can take energy from one source and move it into something new. It’s a foundation for us to learn from and build on. And it’s a community of women ready to support each other and work together towards our goals.

In the creative form, build is encouraging us to create in whatever medium gives us joy. That can be painting or writing or cooking or actual building of furniture and buildings, or even more abstract, planning events, compiling data, or designing a space. Anytime we’re taking one material and molding it into another, we’re creating. It gives us time to focus. Shut the world out. And make something new.

Build also means to use what’s come before you. To lean on each other for a stronger foundation. To understand that every day we can make a little progress on our goals. It doesn’t have to be big, and there may be setbacks, but whatever happens, we can learn from it. Build on it. Take it in and make ourselves stronger. We have strengths we don’t even see that we can build from. In Feel Change Build, we will explore these strengths and see where we can grow and strengthen our foundation.

And finally, build means to look around and intentionally decide what kind of life we want to live. What is most important to us? Spending time with our family? Our friends? Working on a project that makes a difference in our community? Building our own community? Enjoying the fruits of our labor? It could be any or all of these things. But we have to intentionally build our lives around them. We must learn to make the decisions that make these goals possible. We can do anything if we do it together. So, let’s go build something great. Together.
